La Vista Storage Tank Project

La Vista Tank and Booster Pump Station Project

The La Vista Tank and Booster Pump Station Project consists of constructing a new 3,000,000 gallon storage tank and booster pump station, new water line piping and electrical conduits. The booster pump station includes a standby generator, chemical feed system, and provisions for a future surge tank. It will also consist of exterior improvements (Perimeter wall and fencing, gravel surfacing, paved roadways). A phased demolition of the existing storage tank, fencing, pump station building, associated piping, and electrical will also occur. There will be installation of water pipelines and storm drain piping on La Vista Avenue (both on the North and South sides) to connect with existing pipelines on Robertson Avenue and Marconi Avenue, respectively.

Estimated Project Schedule

Below is an estimated timeline as of October 1, 2021. Check back periodically for updates to the schedule.

The construction phase of the project is expected to begin October 2021 and is estimated to be complete in Summer 2023.

Construction will take place Monday-Friday (8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m.) with no anticipated work taking place on weekends or holidays.

 Traffic Impacts

Traffic impacts may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Partial lane closures
  • Road closures
  • Temporary delays
  • Detours

Carmichael Water District (CWD) will make every effort to keep traffic impacts to a minimum and allow for emergency access during construction phases. The Project will be performed in stages that may temporarily impede certain streets. In order to ensure access and expedite construction, the District asks that customers do not park on or next to the street during construction. During the final phase of road restoration, there may be daily road closures with limited to no vehicle access available to allow for paving process including pavement compaction efforts and pavement cooling. The District will notify affected customers at least 48 hours prior to beginning construction on/near the affected street. The main roads that will be impacted are La Vista Avenue, the intersection of La Vista Avenue and Robertson Avenue, and the intersection of La Vista Avenue and Marconi Avenue

Reason for Project

The original La Vista Tank and Booster Pump station was built in 1971 and was identified in the Carmichael Water District’s Master Plan for upgrading and replacement. Due to the age of the assets, maintaining, repairing, and/or rehabilitating the infrastructure is costly. The purpose of this project is to replace the existing aging infrastructure that is at or past its expected useful life with new infrastructure improvements that will provide water system upgrades, increase water reliability, improve water distribution, and improve water quality.
