To All CWD Customers:
Payment Collection Scam
The staff has been informed that a District customer received an automated phone message that their Carmichael Water District account was overdue. The (869) area code phone number offered the customer the option to pay the bill (referencing a different account number) over the phone.
The District may contact you by phone or email to attempt to collect balances over 60 days delinquent. If payment is requested over the phone it will only be accepted by the credit or debit options shown on the Payment Options screen, please be aware that you will never be asked to pay by a checking or savings account over the phone.
If you are unsure if it is a Carmichael Water District employee contacting you, do not provide any personal information, discontinue the call and phone the District at 916-483-2452 to confirm.
Water Testing Scam
The District received notification that there is a group of people that have been soliciting surrounding water districts customers informing them that their water may be unsafe to drink and are offering to test their water for them.
Carmichael Water District does not conduct tests in the home, and do not have any such testing programs in place. If testing is necessary, they will be completed at the District's treatment plant or the wells.
All District employees will have identifying uniforms and vehicles, and they will never ask to enter your home.
If you are concerned about whether it is a District employee, do not hesitate to contact the District office to verify.
